Sydney Through My Eyes
Not the postcard Sydney. Bin night, the 6am cockatoos, the pie cart after midnight. Twenty-eight gouache scenes, each one a looping animation with its own sound.
Souvenirs of Sydney are mostly the Opera House on a fridge magnet. The city you only notice once you've lived here (the bin chook, the Hills Hoist, the schooner at the corner pub) never makes it onto anything.
Paint it the way gouache works: flat, opaque, chalky and slightly imperfect, so it feels made rather than rendered. Then give each painting a small life: a ferry crosses, a crossing button ticks, a kookaburra has a laugh.
Harbour blues, sandstone, jacaranda purple and the black-and-white of the bin chicken. The scenes became keyrings, pins, stickers, totes, a notebook and a bandana: things you'd actually carry on an ordinary Tuesday.
